2007年6月25日下午，世界著名语用学家、英国雷丁大学黄衍教授来山东大学外语学院访问，并举行了为期一周的语用学专题讲座。黄衍讲述了做人治学的道理，并细致入微地介绍了语用学的定义、哲学根源以及当前语用学研究的两大流派——英美学派和欧洲大陆学派。期间，他还介绍了他的新书《Pragmatics》。
