中国微生物资源数据库作为中国科学数据库的一个专业子库，从七五开始中国科学院微生物研究所信息网络中心一直致力于微生物信息资源的收集、整理和网络共享，建立一系列微生物资源数据库，为国家宏观决策提供基础数据依据；利用计算机网络进行微生物信息的传播与共享，作为一个窗口向国际介绍我国微生物学研究现状；引进国外重要的基础性数据库，丰富我国网络信息资源，为我国微生物学家提供一个良好的信息化的工作环境。
莱阳农学院生命科学学院成立于2002年10月。有生物技术和生物科学本、专科4个专业，生物化学与分子生物学、遗传学、微生物学以及植物学4个硕士点，1647名本专科生和30多名硕士研究生。目前学院教师的在研项目有12项国家级课题，12项省级研究项目，先后发表研究论文800余篇，获国家专利4项，获省级以上科研奖励60余项。其中，“灰树花发酵液提取多糖及其药理作用研究”已成功转让，转让费为900万元。
