经过近6年的不懈努力，中国科学院上海有机化学研究所刘文课题组的专家通过最为典型的硫链丝菌素及其类似物盐屋霉素A的比较研究，发现硫肽类抗生素起源于一条核糖体编码的前体肽，经过包括环化脱水/脱氢形成噻唑/咪唑环、脱水形成脱水氨基酸以及【4 + 2】环合反应等后修饰步骤构建了这一家族化合物所共有的特征性结构(Liao, R. et al. Chem. & Biol. 2009, 16, 141)。
