长（L）、宽（W）和长宽比（ε, L/W）是滑坡的三个基本几何参数。长宽比被认为可以反映滑坡的运动特征。然而，当前的测量方法并未有效考虑滑坡的运动路径，因此本质上只度量了“路径无关”的几何参数，无法用于滑坡运动特征分析。同时，当前存在众多不同的滑坡几何参数（长、宽、长宽比）定义，造成了广泛的分歧和混淆，因此急需梳理和建立滑坡几何参数的术语体系。
